Harli was rescued from a MO puppy mill, of the worst kind. This particular mill, like too many, used breeding methods that can and do harm the dogs. In Harli's case, they used the brutal method of using a "rape cage" to force her to stay in one position while multiple dogs mated with her.
You can see the lines around her waist, showing that this process was done to her on a regular basis, over a great deal of time.
Despite the brutality of her life in a puppy mill, Harli was extremely friendly, craving the attention of whomever would hold her. We see this often with the female survivors of puppy mills; those that were removed from their filthy cages during the gestation, delivery and weaning of their puppies. They get extra food and attention during this time. But, once the puppies are weaned they are tossed back into their filthy cages to await the next breeding cycle to start.
Even after a year, you can still see the rape-cage scars on Harli, as she suns herself on one of many camping trips with her family.
Today, Harli is a very confident, loving girl. Harli's mom, Margo took great care, giving Harli high quality food, love and attention. And, with patience and consistent training, her mom, Margo, has brought the Diva out in Harli. Instead of an attention starved little doxie, Harli is a beautiful, confident Dachshund, that rules her world and everyone that is lucky to come into it.
You will often find Ms. Harli, sporting a fancy outfit at special fund-raisers, parades and events, with her sisters, Darlene & Violet, helping to raise awareness and funds to save other dogs and animals in desperate need of rescue.
