Training Tips

The first thing you should consider, before getting a puppy: Is a dachshund the right dog for your family? We recommend this site to help you decide:

Dog Breed Selector Quiz

This site uses specific questions that identify key elements in your living situation that are conducive to different breeds that work best in those areas. You may find that there are several breeds that would work for you. Good luck with choosing the best puppy or dog breed for your family!

We have also developed a helpful brochure that you can use in helping you determine which breed works best in the city.

Dogs are not born trained, it takes time, patience and consistency. If you're not willing to commit to all of these in the process of training your puppy or dog to be a great family member and good citizen, then perhaps you should reconsider your pet choice. Having a dog is a life-time commitment of love, patience & training.
